A few months ago, Keet received a call from a senior pastor of an Evangelical Free Church in Stromsburg, Nebraska. They were starting the search for an Associate Pastor and he was calling to tell Keet a little bit about the position and invite him to apply. When we first talked about the position and where it was located, I don't know if either of us were that excited about Nebraska. Well, Keet probably didn't really care that much, but I was a little more apprehensive about going some place that far away. Nebraska really hadn't been on our radar screen at all!
Keet did apply for the position and things began to move. The Pastor and his wife decided to come to Wisconsin to visit with us for a day in May. This seemed a little unusual to us, but it was find with us. We had a good visit with them. At this point the position sounded really good, but the thought of going to a town with just 1,200 people was...well, I am sure you can imagine. The thing about Stromsburg is that there are no larger towns around it for quite some distance. The nearest store, a Super Walmart, is about 20 minutes away. The nearest Target (boo hoo) is an hour away! However, life in a small town is somewhat appealing, especially when thinking about raising kids. And, relationships would be at the core of our ministry there, which is also something that is very appealing.
The next step in the interview process is for us to candidate out there in July. We will be going the weekend of July 13th. We have a very busy weekend planned, and as of now, it will just be Keet and I going. No Cole :( . That may change but I don't think it will. Keet will be meeting with a lot of people, teaching, Preaching and leading Youth Group. Youth Group would be one of his responsibilities.
Right now, I think both of us feel like the Lord may be leading us to Nebraska, but our trip will hopefully confirm that, or not. If that is not where we are supposed to go, then we don't want to go. We are trusting in Him to show us his will.

For those of you who don't know where Nebraska is - it's right in the middle of the country.

A cornfield - there are lots of cornfields in Nebraska.

If you click on this map, the county that Stromsburg is in is Polk - in the Southeastern part of the state.

Nebraska prairie - there are some pretty things.

It doesn't look too bad in good ole Nebraska. Todd said if you move there we will just have to come visit every summer.
Praying that God will give clear direction to you and the church committee when you go in a few weeks!
Love you!
Well- there's lots of cornfields, like Indiana and it's a small town, like New Pal. So, really it could be like a "pretend" Indiana. Regardless, best of luck in whatever way it turns out! Tell your brother hi for me next time you talk to him- I miss him!
